    Hey Everyone,

Has anybody travelled to Manchester for a United match.
Going in April for the first time and need to book a hotel.
Can anybody recommend any hotels near Old Trafford and for a reasonable price?

    Thanks for the help.

Been there for the first time recently. We stayed in Jury Inn in the city centre and got the train out to the stadium. Getting the train out and back was hassle free. We did go to a pub for an hour or so after the match before heading back into the centre so we miss the main ruch after the match.

    Enjoy the experience.

First off, make sure the match is confirmed. A lot of matches in the Premier League involving the top clubs in April/May are subject to change so take note before you book anything.

When I'm at a match in Manchester I always stay in The Mint Hotel. Depending on when you book you can usually get a room for around £70, which is excellent value. It's located opposite Piccadilly Train Station and not too far from Deansgate.

If you are planning post-match beers then you really want to be staying somewhere close to Deansgate as that's where you'll be boozing.

Take a look at The Premier Inn too. There's a couple of them dotted around Manchester and there beds are worth the fee alone. Very comfortable!

    Enjoy, hope you's lose :D (i'm a gooner)

Thanks, the match is confirmed. It has been changed to 12:45 for Sky sports so just have to sort everything out now. Thanks for the help!

I'll second Deansgate as good spot for post match drinks and for late night drinks. There is a Premiere Inn in the centre as well which a few of the friends stayed in. It was good value as well. As far as I remember Jurys Inn was in reasonable walking distance from Deansgate but that could have been "drink miles":D

Oh yeah besides the deansgate locks for drinks also check out the printworks. Its a kind of shopping centre style place full of pubs.

i have stayed in Altringham loads of times,

Its about 10/15 mins from airport by taxi. The cresta court hotel. There is a pub just up the road called the Orange Tree, Norman whiteside lives beside it and is usually in there at weekends.

have also stayed in the quality hotel in Hale, not far away, and that is also quite close to Altringham. great oubs and clubs there, if you do not want to go into manchester city centre. The metro ( manchester version of luas) is few mins walk away as well

    Hi

Mind me asking You what game You are going to? Fursttimer raised a very valid point. Though games MIGHT seem confirmed, they are still open to change.
EG: Fursttimer's team have a league game this weekend they have to re-schedule, also had Chelsea beaten Everton in the Cup, our game next Tuesday night was put back to sometime AFTER the game between the 2 teams at OT.

It really is playing devil's advocate trying to arrange for a game over the next 6-8 weeks.

Good luck anyhow...You'll love it. If You get to Sir Matt Busby Way early enough, with OT at Your back, turn right and walk as far as the main cross roads, turn right again, and there is a great pub on Your right - The Bishops Blaize http://maps.google.com/maps/place?rlz=1I7GGLL_en&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=pubs+near+old+trafford+manchester&fb=1&hq=pubs&hnear=Old+Trafford,+Sir+Matt+Busby+Way,+Manchester+M16+0RA,+UK&cid=7364680954253062188

BEST singsong before a game there.

    Good Luck!

I stayed in the Deansgate area myself when I was over a couple of weeks ago, but ended up going out in the Printworks. There's loads of hotels in walking distance of the Deansgate metro stop and it's easy to get a train in from the airport. You can also get a tram to the Old Trafford stop from Deansgate and it's a fairly handy walk from there to Sir Matt Busby way. There's a whole row of nightclubs under the Deansgate metro stop that are open until 6am.

We stayed in Jury's and the equivalent of Luas station was across the road. If you get a chance take same Luas in same direction as from city to Old trafford and then bus transfer to Trafford Centre. Hundreds of shops. Well dozens and dozens anyway!

I always stay at a Holiday Inn as they have a good points system called priority Club. I have even had free stays through this. There is one about a mile from Old Trafford. Enjoy the match!
