Hi, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Basically got a call from a well known recruitment agency on Dawson St asking me if i was interested in a 12 month contract, IT Support, daily rate etc paid through the agency, CXC etc. They asked me how much i was looking for, i told them my daily rate and they said thats fine. The salary is within that range

I went for an interview which went excellent and was more or less told i had the job. Asked me could i start at 9 in the morning. Went home, didnt hear anything that evening from the recruitment agency. Rang them the next day to enquire about feedback and was told i didnt get the job.

Same recruitment agent rang me back later that day to say a differant job had came up with the same company, but at a lower level and with lower pay. I agreed to take it because i didnt have a job at the time.

Spent the last three days in my new position, before i was moved up a level to the position i am in now. This is the position that i origanally applied for, but i am now doing it for less money.

I rang the recruitment agency on wednesday to complain. Agent told me that this is what terms the company had come back to the agency with to offer me. Said she would ring me thursday and let me know if i can be moved onto higher rate. Havent heard anything since.

Im a bit afraid to push it too much in case they just sack me but can anybody advice me on what to do?

    Many thanks..

Seems to me that the company not the agent is the one pulling the stroke. I am aware something similar happening to an engineer recently, offered a fairly low level job, ended up as acting Project Manager within a week. Could not get a pay lift out of the client, and was told in no uncertain terms what would happen if pursued further.

Agreed, sounds like its company doing the screwing here - you and the agency!

    +1

It's all about demand and supply.

If I was you, I'd be keeping my eyes open and my CV "out there", and in the meantime being grateful of having cash to pay the rent.
