    Hi all,

I'm living in a two story building in Rathmines with a clear view to the eastern horizon and I'm getting tired of paying for UPC considering the only channels I watch are BBC really. I'm wondering what kind of equipment I'd need to to receive the digital signals from Wales or Isle of Man. The reason I'm choosing terrestrial over freesat is that I already own a 64 element TV aerial and booster equipment. Also what kind of heights would I be needing to have it at, if its possible at all?

Probably an 16 Element or less

Big bit at back = Reflector
    ¦ = Dipole
    | = Directors.

    Don't count the spikes.

Elements total = Reflector + Dipole + Directors.

You would need 2x or 4x of those aerials mounted on a tall mast. You see some in Meath, Kildare, Dublin etc still.

I'd use a pair of 18 element (often sold as 75 element!) aerials on a 3m to 4m tall pole.

No such thing as a "booster" as such, it doesn't make the signal better. The mast head pre-amp is to compensate for the loss of the coax downlead. It Amplifies signal and noise and interference equally.

A "Freeview HD" set-box or TV will work for Welsh/IOM TV and Irish TV. Really you are better off with a Freesat HD box.
