    Hi all

If I was to get a friend a of mine to get an ipad 2 in the states for example the wifi + 3G, would the 3G work over this side of the pond?

I imagine it would, I am just seeking clarification on the matter so I can eliminate or not from my options.

    Thanks everyone

    Good morning

    John

We don't know anything about the iPad 2 yet. But in the case of the current iPad, yes. Afaik 3G is the same everywhere.

Not entirely true. T-Mobile in the states use a different band, but AT&T use the same as Europe.

T-Mobile use a different frequency, but they are quite rare. The current 3G iPad works here, as will the 3G iPad2 (assuming there is one, but it is a fairly safe assumption). The main thing to watch for will be that if there are two versions, an AT&T version and a Verizon version, get the AT&T version, as that is the one that will work in Europe. There will never be a T-Mobile version, as it would be easier to extend the frequency range of the AT&T version to cover T-Mobile than it would be to manufacture a separate chip that only works on the T-Mobile frequency.
