Is this seriously what our Clubs & Socs financial budget goes toward?

I don't mean that in a bitchy way, but it's just crazy that when we hear that universities are on their knees from a financial point of view (hence introduction of fees etc.) yet these soc's are being given a budget!

Where can we find out how much money each Club/Soc gets per year? I'm a member of a lot of Clubs/Socs I admit, but at least they provide some sort of education/training and usually introduce someone to a hobby/sport that they will keep for the rest of their lives

(PS. I'm a member but when I realised it's just a bunch of geeks doing sh1te like that above I bailed out fairly quickly)

I wouldn't worry about the university being on its knees financially - look at the amount it squanders on buildings and 'functions'. The Society money is peanuts.

And in any case - I sincerely doubt much - if any - money from the fund went towards the Cardboard battle.
Last year the total amount of money that is recorded as having passed through NSS' account is about 0.1% of the total amount which went through Societies' accounts.

I like the NSS as the stuff they do is largely shoestring budget. And it's very much a 'fun' society. I've not been to any of their events, but I would certainly regard them as at least as worthwhile as almost any other society.

Granted, BAconSoc and probably other similar such 'non-specific' societies could be merged with NSS, but meh.

What societies would one regard as more 'worthwhile'?

I dunno, obviously it is a total farce. But it's entertainment, and it's exercise, and it's something of an event for the college. There were a couple press members there taking photos and names for captions. I'm not a sports fan, so I don't see any reason rugby or soccer should get special treatment over something like this.

You managed to make three grammatical errors in a sentence with six words in it. You are the anti-nerd.
