As above, my shotgun is 28" would like more distance so from your experience do extendable chokes (Tight ones i.e. a full or 3 quarter) give much help or what?
Ive chanced different cartridges and looked at various patterns but still no joy. Also reason I want them is for vermin, cant get close enough at times to grey crows and magpies so need an extra distance.

some of the clay shooters down my way consider them to be of no great advantage you might only get a couple of feet extra, conceal your self better is the only way to get close if they dont pass within range it wont make a difference

Id say there just a bit of a psychological thing, you think because you have them you'll hit the moon but in reality they just a few inches max of more distance...
Id still like to see what others think (prob the same as your post 4gun)

I though that a tighter choke only gave you a tighter pattern at a set distance not more distance. But then wot do I know??

chokes wont make any cartridge go any further! all a tight choke will do, is keep the pattern tihgter for longer. extended chokes are a cosmetic thing and make it a bit easier to change them. you,l only be extending your berrel length by a half inch at most. not worth it imo!

You very hard on yourself Clive.. What you said is right cos JimBrowning backed up your point.

Thanks for that Jim, I wont bother purchasing longer chokes so. Better stop getting technical, kust eye up the bird give it lead and bang! :D No need for fancy chokey ma'bobs...
