Howdy folks Normally I would do a big hello and intro but instead I'm getting down to brass tacks.

I am the proud owner of a Both Elephant Type 89. This means the mother company is gone because it was Chinese clone company.

So my question directed at the others who own one, or are familiar with the rifle, What recommendations can you give me to improve it? As I really like this gun and would be happy to do it up.

I don't own one personally but my friend does and to put it simply... that thing's a beast straight out of the box. One thing he did was get some short style mags because those things look sweet in it. And also you can never go wrong with a guarder hop up rubber and a tightbore barrel.

Feck ye, ye got there before me!:D I happen te own one meself, as monkey says. It really is a great gun. Love the fact that it can take almost ANY M4 mags, even if they don't fit perfectly.

One thing I noticed at my last skirmish was that I was outranged by a number of the more up-market aegs out there (Noel and his scar comes to mind). While that's not a major issue for me (I like te get up close), and as I see it ye pay for what ye get, if ye feel that close quarters isn't the thing for you, ye might want te get someone to upgrade the internals.

Also, if yer an optics man, ye might like to invest in a rail mount or RIS foregrip for the thing. Since its a Mauri clone, they should be compatible with your aeg. It really depends on what ye fancy yeself.

As far as cheap and cheerful goes, its an absolutely wonderful gun with plenty of modding potential.

Sorry for the rant, but I absolutely love my type 89! :D
