    Hi All
Mods please move if necessary , im sorry i didnt know where to put this !!

I wonder could anyone answer a question for me please ?

I am a father with sole custody of my 7 year old son .
I got a solicitors letter today saying his mother is applying
to be appointed joint costodian .

Myself and son Live in Cork City.
The letter says the hearing is set for a hearing at a town
court in the county. 30 odd miles away , where she is from.

I would be grateful if someone can tell me that this should be heard in the court
sitting where WE are living ??? ie :- Cork City Family Court ??

Thank you so very much in Advance !!

    I appreciate it !

Considering the seriousness of the issue i.e. custody of your child, you should contact a solicitor. He/she will be able to advise you on this and any other matters.

Thank you for taking the time to reply .

Furthermore to my question , i have been to the legal aid board this morning and have an
appointment for next Thursday morning . So till then i am in the dark . Forgive me if i dont
go into too many details and the reasons why etc , i have applied for a maintenance order
( she has never given me a cent to towards my sons upkeep ) against her this morning
and the hearing is set for APRIL . I have my reasons for doing this , and its not for
spite or money , sorry i dont want to say too much here on Boards .

The custody hearing is set for late MARCH ...
is it possible for me to get the custody hearing adjourned till after the maintenance hearing?
Can i get the custody hearing switched to the city court and have them both heard the same day?

Is it the practise that the court hearing are heard whereever the order is applied for?
ie ...... if a person living in Dublin wants to take someone in Kildare to family court
is the hearing held in Dublin even tho the child lives in Kildare

    Sorry , its confusing !

    Thanks Everyone
