Sadly it's just a wideband UHF analogue Detector driving a bargraph. Not a Digital meter at all.

    Labgear used to be good.

It's a waste of £10, though not really overpriced.

No tuning to a Mux, no SNR or BER. It just displays the peak of strongest signal on entire band.

Unless you are a professional installer I'd not worry about a meter for Terrestrial TV at all. The Aerial "pointing" is 20x less sensitive than Satellite.

You'll get some signal in a 90 degree arc in most cases and unlike Satellite a compass plus RTE's site is enough http://coverage.rtenl.ie/

    Maps here too http://maps.techtir.com/ireland-dtt.htm

To be honest I wanted to use it for detecting what I'd presume would be a weak Freeview signal from either Divis or Isle of Man (Port St Mary).

Just thought a meter would've been handy for this.
57miles and 63miles away from each.

The weak signal would probably be overwhelmed by a stronger local one & that meter can't tell the difference.

It only works with medium to strong signals.

Use the TV. Manually tune to the channel you are looking for. Then wait a minute or two after each change.
