I just decided to check out the 0 on my rifle for the 75gr HPBT match ammo as I am hoping to compare them to the superformance stuff when I get my hands on some.

Any here are the results at 100y. I was aiming at a previous hole and I fired 3 shots.
First pic I just covered the holes with a 2 cent coin
    24ffa2f3.jpg

Second pic I just moved the coin to show the group.
Like I said I was aiming at a previous hole.

I also Did the expansion test on a carton of water at 100y.

Then I moved out to 200 yards. Again a 3 shot group.
    Covered

    And expansion test at 200y

Conditions. It was starting to get dull and it was breezy but all in I'm happy with the result and I will pick up another box of them tomorrow and test them again on a calm bright day

All I need to do now is compare them to the superformance stuff and I will be happy then.

    what twist is your barrel?

My rifle has a 1-8 twist. Yours has a 1-9. So it should handle them aswel

Paulo remember the nice little vid you did of shooting the milk cartons filled with water with different bullet types

How would you rate the 75 grain match to the best in that test?

    hi veg,
i was hoping someone would ask me that.

the v-max was more explosive obviously but that is what they are built to do.

but i was happy with the result and i am confident that they will perform well on a fox or rabbit sized animal.
i will test them again before taking a shot on a live target..

the accuracy will lend to their potency being able to pin point the shoot means less room for error

Cheers Paulo, appreciate that. Serious groups too, well done

My self and 4gun were out lampung last night in search of Charlie but no sign of him.
I was hoping to try out the 75gr BTHP as I am fairly confident that they will be lethal on a fox.
Any way no fox but I did manage to hit a rabbit at 110y with them and to say the least my question was answered. It blew the bunny wide open. I have no pic as I left my phone in the jeep but we all know what the inside of a rabbit looks like.
Next stop will be a fox. I am sure they will hit like a hammer on a fox now after what it did to the bunny.

    Poulo,
That's some nice shooting, what was your setup: lying down, bipod, sand bags, ...?

You will definitely enjoy some Superformance, seeing how you can shoot like that.

What mass have you found that your kit likes to digest?

Also, Santa Claus is most definitely not dead, but very much alive.

Parents of bold, mauldy, twisted little eegits often tell them that Santa is dead, only because they are on Santa's No-Fly List. It is a nice cover story to tell them rather than hurt their self esteem.

Santa also has a very good memory.:D

Man they are good groups at 10x at 200yards. The tikka tacs are the biz though very accurate and well able for abuse, action is very smooth too. Miss mine:(

I am building a .243 at the moment. I might have to move on my tikka tac. Altho I don't want to.

you will miss the tikka tac if you get rid of it but when you nail your first fox with a 58gr hornady from your 243 it ll alleviate the pain:D

Picked up 2 boxes of 75 grain TAP this evening.

I know that .223 is not deer legal here but I coppied this from hornady's site and thought. It would back up the lethal affect of a match bullet in this case the 75gr superformance match.

    PRODUCT: 223 Rem 75 gr BTHP Superformance® Match™

    SHOOTER: Alexis McFarlane

    POSTED: Nov 29, 2010

On Sunday Nov 21st, the last day of the NE deer season, my 11 year old daughter Alexis shot her first deer. Because she is very petite and only weighs 65 pounds, I have her shooting an H&R single shot rifle chambered in .223 using Hornady’s 75 grain BTHP Superformance ammunition. I had limited her to a 100 yard shot as she had never shot a deer before and I was a bit skeptical of the capabilities of a .223, especially if she made a marginal hit. However, I was amazed at how this load performed. She made a perfect heart shot at 75 yards and the deer didn’t make it 20 yards from where it was shot. I believe the only reason it made it that far was pure adrenaline. Kind of graphic to say, but the energy released totally exploded the heart and actually blew the bottom part of the heart out of the exit hole! Obviously shot placement is very critical, but the 75 gr .223 is a tremendous load for deer size animals for hunters and shooters that cannot handle the heavy recoil of larger rifles. This may not be a trophy as defined by the record books, but it was a trophy to us!

By the way, the $5 youth deer license that NE has implemented is the best buy in hunting!

    Thanks
    Brian

I finally got the chance today to confirm what I set out to do and that was to see if the 75gr BTHP match bullet by hornady was an acceptable vermn round.
I am happy to say it has passed with flying colors.
We got a chance to pop a few bunnies first then the final and most importan one. We came upon a fox at 216y and placed the cross hairs over the engine room and let fly. A deep thud and some fur flying from the far side and it was over.
No dramatics just dropped on the spot.

Thanks to tack and dev for giving me the opportunity to compleat my task.
