Blue Screen

I've just had the dreaded blue screen appear on my laptop. It appeared for a split second, then disappeared. The laptop shut down and then restarted itself and all seems to be well again.

I'm just wondering if there's a system scan I can do to check that everything is ok?

It's a Fujitsu Siemens T5010 running Windows XP.

    Thanks

Can you get in to safe mode?

You can run an application when you get in called BlueScreenView

This will give you any\all information on what was affected.

This happened to the wife's laptop too. Turns out it was something to do with the boot something (cant remember what it was but i knew at the time). I cleared everything off it n reset it back to factory settings only for it to happen numours times since. It's something to do with the boot device i think. Its sitting in the laptop bag now never to be used again. :(

This is a screenshot of the blue screen result. Looks to be something to do with a HD Audio something or other.

When rebooting, press F8 for a menu which has the option to 'Disable Automatic Restart'. (Keep tapping F8 until the menu appears) Then you can get the blue screen code and investigate the problem further using that.

Is that only in the event of the blue screen re-occuring? What if (as I'm hoping) it's a once-off event?

Yes, only if it reoccurs which it usually will I think. You should have enough info in the Minidump to Google around for a solution. Probably means updating or rolling back a driver iirc.

Try pressing F8 and then look for something like last known good configuration. It works sometimes.
