E46 Auto/Tiptronic box

    Good/Bad? to be avoided?

    Are they anyway less reliable thatn the auto box?
    And presumabbly they are more costly to repar/maintain/ replace?

    Im talking 318-320 here if that makes a difference

    They are the exact same box as the manual but it uses hydraulics to shift the gears, operated the clutch etc. The M3 csl lads don't seem to get too much bother with them. Good reviews. Not that complicated either.

    all of BMW Auto boxes have the tiptronic function, E46 E53 etc etc
    so their both the same IIRC.

    I have the e46 320 auto. Never an ounce of trouble and extremely smooth and reliable!
