International Baccalaureate system????

    I am a second year junior cert student in Ireland and my family is moving to Germany. Please can someone tell me what is the International Baccalaureate system and how does it compare to irish system.

    The IB is like the leaving cert in that you do 6 subjects. The grading system is out of 7
    7=A
    6=B
    5=C etc and your total is (instead of out of 600) out of 42.

    You also have to do a course in philosophy (Theory of Knowledge) and a 4000 word extended essay which gives you 3 bonus points.

    It is highly (strictly) recommended that you only do 6 (although some ppl do 7 the 7th doesnt count in ur points). You are supposed to do 3 of them are higher and 3 are standard level.
    If i recall, you are required to do 2 languages 1 at A1 level, (in my case english) and another as a second language (i did beginers spanish). You pick at least one science and a humanities and one maths and one other of your choice depending on the school....
    each subject is quite demanding especially the higher level ones with plenty of work you do yourself/projects/experiments....
