    No

You need a new TV or a proper set-box.

Or if the TV was sold to you recently and had digital in description without a disclaimer that it's incompatible in Ireland, you can get a refund or exchange,

Shops will always try and fob you off.

    Sale of Goods act:
You can claim damages up to 6 years
TV expected to last at least two years
The Package and display consitutes a contract, unless the shop put a printed Disclaimer about the Digital incompatible. The Government warned CEDA (the Trade & Retail TV associations) and others in March 2008 about mislabelled incompatible MPEG3 Digital TVs as the Spec was released in Feb 2008. Tests commenced in Dec 2007.

Your only difficulty was why not complained earlier? But the service wasn't Publicised till 30th October 2010, and only softly then.

Many eBay sellers haven't a clue. Some are not fully honest.

You can't make a TV work reliably for MPEG4 with a CI adaptor card, as the TV has to tune the channels. Most MPEG2 sets will not see the channels.

The Adaptor runs too hot (I've tested them).

It can't do HD at all. RTE 2 is now HD only format and TV3, TG4 and RTE1 will later be HD only.

There is no CI adaptor that can ever work for Irish Digital or UK "Freeview HD".
