    Hi

I'm new to the whole djing and want to get into it. I'v been researching which route to go down before i spend my life savings:D

I dunno to go for 2 cdj 350s and the djm 350/ or maybe the djm 400 which will cost me around 1500euros before I buy montiors etc

    or...

buy the S4 for around 800euros.

Money is an issue for me but I'd rather splash the cash this once and go down the right route!

I just want to ask the experienced DJ's on here now. If you were starting off again, which route would u go down? CDJs or the Digital route? and why?

What's the advantages of both and disadvantages?

    thanks:)

Pick up some 2nd hand gear on adverts and get stuck into the music, don't be worrying about equipment.

If you want to burn cd's buy cd decks, If you want to control files with a midi controller buy the S4 thing and If you want to buy vinyl buy decks.

    2 x Technics 1210s (second-hand), Ecler Nuo 2.0 (second-hand), Serato Scratch.

Will teach you so so so much more than any other set-up, especially if you start buying actual vinyl.

How long are you in DJ world Dylanmc111?

What I did starting off was set aside €550 to buy all my gear. I picked up a set of decks and a cheap Numark mixer. Learned the ropes and sold them on. With the same amount of money I then upgraded to newer decks. Again, kept learning and not spending any money.

If you are starting out, I would strongly advise against spending over €600 on gear. You run the risk of not liking DJing and having to sell out at a big loss. At the end of the day you sound like you want to do this as a profession, and at the end of the day that profession has to pay for itself. You'd quickly recoup €600 if you were half decent and then you could use further cash to upgrade or sell without a huge loss.

A good DJ can play as well on 1000's as they can on 10 year old CDJ's. The gear doesn't make the DJ.
