My CA AUG locked up on me 2 weeks ago and I finally managed
to pull the gear box from it (really tight fit in the body I hope I can get it back)

Took the motor off the bottom so I could release the anti-reverse latch
and I noticed that the gears all appeared to be bone dry.
There was a yellow chalky powder where the grease would be.

Anyone ever see this? did not think just by having a gun in storage in a
cold but dry place would cause such drastic looking dryness.

    Hi Bullets,
I see it all the time, seems to just be from use and storage, I'm actually not sure why, but that seems like the most logical reason to me.

When you're regreasing them, make sure to clean them well though. I use the 3in1 white lithum grease in all my repairs, great stuff!

Looks like I'm gonna need a hell of a lot of it then, nearly all my gear
has been sitting in a spare room for years without use! only starting to use stuff recently

One can lasts quite a while, don't worry! I've used it with atleast 50-60 upgrades/repairs so far and it's still going.:)
