Cheap Fabrics

It seems to me that fabrics & trimmings are very expensive in Ireland and a quick review of fabrics on Ebay UK validates this point. Ebay Ireland, however, has very little to offer in this market sector and I have not found any decent discount fabric/trimmings outlets in Ireland yet. What am I missing here?

You're not missing anything. That's the situation. It's mad.

15 yrs ago when I started making clothes there were 3 fabric shops in town and 11 within 30 miles of home, now there 1 small 1.

People bought on the Internet and a people gave up doing it for the last 10 years.

There are still a few great fabric shops in the country and I don't think the prices are that bad.

If I was ordering on the Internet I would be buying rolls, then there is a discount.

I know its a long way off but i thought there was some very good value to be had at the Knit and Stitch exhibition in November. Ikea has some good value if you are making cushions or stuff for children

Thank you all for your helpful comments. I have recently bought some lovely fabrics and roman blind making accessories on Ebay which were considerably cheaper (including postage costs & exchange rate fluctuations) than the prices here. I have also found some bargains on Adverts.ie so I think that is the way forward for me.
