Apparently the Irish Air Corps touched down in Tripoli tonight only to be find nobody waiting for them. Reports say that upon learning that they were minutes away from being evacuated directly to Dublin, they ran out the gate screaming and howling, dispersing in all directions.

How can I link to my unfunny attempt at being funny? Even Dean as in 'Dean the high-priest of funny' knew that I made it up, once again well spotted Deano.

I wonder will the aircorps lads do a runner too though, claim political asylum in Malta maybe.

I just heard an interview with a man from Roscommon who was working in Libya and managed to get out yesterday, on a flight to Turkey. He described the airport as being absolute chaos, Libyan security were not allowing any nationals leave the country. The Irish guy said they were being prevented from leaving, but were lucky enough to fall in with a local guide who connected them with a German pilot who had an empty plane waiting on the runway. The pilot insisted he would not be leaving Libya with the plane empty. After an hour, they managed to lift off and reached Turkey.

Then the Roscommon man rang the woman they had fallen in with at the airport in Libya to ask what the situation was and was she ok, and she told him that the road to the airport was lined with bodies.

I was waiting for the punchline..but there doesn't seem to be one.

Listening to the whine line yesterday & Irish woman on saying they spent a couple of hours been bused around Tripoli airport looking for Irish plane to no avail... (plane left empty? ) & seems there was no Irish representive to co-ordinate evacuation in Tripoli airport.. when she finally returned to airport terminal was put on plane to Gatwick by British embassy member...
