How Have You Arrived At Your Decision On Who to Vote For?

After much weighing up of all the political parties policies, after listening in to a lot of the debates in the media by the prospective candidates, by political commentators & economic analysts and after researching & reading up online, I have come to my decision on how I am going to vote on Friday.

And I am ignoring all of the above.

Over the past few weeks, I've been collecting all the leaflets that have come through the letterbox from all the candidates in my constituency. Not because I like them or pay much heed to what they say, but simply because they make good roaches for rollies. Some are better than others... some card is too thick, some a bit too thin. Some are also easier to tear into the required size than others.

So after all my toing & froing over who would be the best one to vote for, I have decided to base my preferences in order of who has given me the best to worst leaflet roach paper.

So, how have you arrived at your decision on who to vote for?

I'm voting for that new young whippersnapper Micheál Martin, he's a breath of fresh air. Where was he for the last 14 years?

After playing the Fine Gael game, I'm not sure I can vote for a party with a leader who dies if he touches a traffic cone.

Fianna Fáil are pretty much a non starter

The Christian party are almost exactly my opposite in every policy

Richard Boyd Barrett is in my area and has good policies (loony left, that's me) but seems a bit of a plonker, where are those baths? Why am I paying bin charges? You've achieved nothing.

Labour are sort of pointless, but appear the best of an almost completely pointless group of identikit parties, who do little other than argue over minor policy differences.

If only Dylan haskins was in my area. He used to live 2 minutes from my house and the gigs in his were great.

In sum, yeah I guess I'll go loony left, based on lack of options, their policies being a little better, and the fact that FG are FF with a different name.

On the other hand if anyone wants to sell me some hash, I'll be happy to use StarBelgrade's method.

Election pamphlet paper plane test. Internationally regarded as the greatest test of a partys ability to use correctly weighted paper the right policies.

I tried making a paper aeroplane out of a Fianna Fail leaflet, but it wouldn't take off as it only had a right wing.

    Fapability.

But in all seriousness, I based it on the integrity the candidate has shown. His/her ideas about fairness in Irish society. His/her willingness to enact true political reform. And his/her ideas on what should be done in terms of Europe.

I have chosen a candidate who will get my first vote, but hell, it's a secret ballot!

Well, the candidates that placed 20 of their posters within 30 feet of each other are automatically not getting my vote. If they can't manage economical distribution of their posters then I don't want them running our economy.

The candidates who made promises, but having nothing to back them up, also are not getting my vote.

The candidates with no experience of running/working in a large successful company are also not getting my vote, since this is really the only indication that they would be qualified.

    So that leaves....well, nobody.

Besides, I don't believe in democracy. I can't support a system whereby millions of ignorant, uninformed people get to choose the person they like best to run the country. Democracy is a popularity contest, and has nothing to do with the ability to successfully run a country.

I have tried judging by hair...

I have tried judging by ties...

I have tried eliminating the ones who can't manage to get their leaflets through the letterbox but annoyingly leave then half in half out...

I have tried judging them by the slippabilty of their leaflets when I step on them when I open my front door and nearly fall on my ear because I've stepped on one such leaflet...

I have tried judging them by the glossiness of their leaflets, too glossy and they are killing posh trees, if they look cheap and nasty no trees were harmed...

I have tried judging by their random hand movements while on live debates...

I have tried judging them by their fluency in Irish, this didn't really work because my Irish wouldn't be the best...

I have tried going by the "head on them", this has also been disappointing...

I have looked at all their policies...

I will vote but: Jaysus! It seems to be quite the mess we have! :(

    I can't vote, not allowed.

If I could, I'd Vote for Sinn Fein. I played that Fine Gael game and Gerry kept killing me so I suppose he must be very determined. Either Sinn Fein or a traffic cone.
