Does anyone know of any Music Production courses that would be on during the Summer for any age group and for beginners? Preferably in Leinster please.

And do you guys think it would be worth my while to go.. are courses in Ireland worth the money, or should I just focus on getting my own unique style of producing without any help?

    Thanks.

Anyway, I looked up the STC and it's 1,000 squid for 15 weeks.. doubt my parents would fork that much out for me.
Are there any cheaper courses around Leinster, maybe 300 euro for a few weeks?

    Try this maybe.

    Run by the Xmusic Academy.

The current one has started already but will probably be running again.

Buy yourself a book and some equipment with the money. Thats the smart thing to do!

Do you have any recording experience or are you starting out fresh?
Do you have a system to record on at home? What kind of music do you want to make?

Starting from the very beginning you could try http://www.rockschool.ie/.

@studiorat: Fresh, kind of. I've been using FL Studio for a few weeks, so electronic music is what I want to make.

Hm. Maybe I'll do both! I do want to go to a course though for something to look forward to every week.

    Try this: http://www.ableton.com/download-suite-trial

There's no definite rules but for electronic and loop based stuff it's a good place to start. There's also loads of online tutorials to get you up and running. A USB or MIDI keyboard would be useful aswell.

See how you like the program and if you want I can hook you up with a guy who's a really excellent Ableton tutor. He does classes at all levels in Dublin City from about €300 for a short course. See how it goes and send me a private message.
