Possible Cracked Tip Or Snooker Cue

Myself and the brother were playing Snooker at the weekend and all of a sudden a hollow noise started coming from the cue when he was took his shot. It persisted for a while, stopped, and then started again.

It sounds like the cue could have cracked but it's a proper Riley cue and he's been using it for about a year now (my dad originally had it before him). There's no visible crack on the cue at all though, nor on the tip.

Has this happened to any of you before and would you think it's the tip or cue, or perhaps even both?

    Thanks :)

If it's a two piece it could be that the joint is loose, or perhaps the weight has become loose in the butt.
I would have it retipped to rule out those, the weight can be secured again easily or if it's a two piece and the joint is the problem that can be repaired, your local club can retip the cue, for the other repairs I would recommend Mick Kane out in Monkstown Snooker Club, he the best in the business and not to pricey either.
