    Hi guys,

I lost my job a whole ago and i've been looking in the Evening Herald newspapers and i see plenty of work for, Owner drivers, i personally dont own a van but im looking into leasing a van for maybe 6 months an give this a go,

Yes I know that when your an ownder driver you pay for all your own costs, diesel, insurance, fone, lunch an so on so forth, but my real question is,

Does anybody know where the best place is for an individual not a registered company, to lease a van maybe for a 3.6.12 month contract?

Also has any body else applied for these jobs in the herald? can you earn good wedge? any advise on either matter would be much appreciated.... :D

It may be cheaper to buy a second hand yoke than rent one.

You prob won't be able to lease one if you're not vat registered, comPany name etc. Better off buying something for a few grand before investing any big money

You'll get a decent ish van for €3000 if the folks lashing out the work don't have an age limit on the vans. You'll recoup lots of that if you go and sell. Don't buy a Traffic unless it's had a recent gearbox.

i dont wanna spend money i havent really got on a van if im not guaranteed the work really, at least with a lease I can walk away from it after 3 months if its not for me, a place in Limerick does a 3 month lease, but thanks for all your responses!

What they offer sounds like exactly what you need. The website is the UK one (no Irish equivalent), but they do offer van rental / lease on an ongoing basis, at fairly reasonable rates (grrrr )

Good luck in your new venture if the figures work out.

    You can try these http://www.prestigerentals.ie/services/services.html

Or ring any of the hire/lease places and ask. I'm sure in this climate they'd rather have a van out then sitting in a yard.

Figure out the cost of the lease for three months vs the money you loose when you sell a van you bought. Thats the answer. Personally I'd go with buying outright, in three months you "might" loose 500 but a lease would probably be more than that? Maybe?
