Someone i know recently caused accidental damage to their car. they are afraid claiming it on insurance as they are over 70 and the insurance company might make it more difficult for them to get cover in the future.

    Is this fear warranted?

    Thanks.

Have they excess on the policy as your 70 year old may have to cover the initial amount? Also if they have a decent no claims bonus it may be protected if he purchased bonus protection when he took out the insurance, and some companies allow up to 2 claims per year without effecting your NCB.
Either way there is so much competition in the insurance market place at the moment, it really is a buyers dream and so long as he/she is fit to drive then I don't see a problem.
