I think this is a fairly big certainty if anyone is interested in it.

It's fairly obvious to me that Wenger told him last summer to stay at Arsenal for one more season. Very like the Ronaldo situation IMO.

We know Barca are interested and with Xavi coming on in age I think they will want to get this deal done in the summer.

I can't take your post seriously because

    1. Arsenal are on for winning everything right now and
    2. Your post count.

I wouldnt put money on it. Barca have financial problems and can afford to wait another couple of years on him. I cant see Arsenal accepting less then 40 million for him.

    1. Won't make a difference. Ronaldo was on for winning everything in his last season at utd. Won the league, carling cup and got to champions league final.
It's Fabregas's dream to go back to Barca and link up with Iniesta, Xavi, Messi etc. He grew up with them. Besides, Arsenal are unlikely to win the league and are long shots for champs league.
    2. Point taken on the post count.:D

The problem is, the longer they wait on him, the more risk his transfer value will shoot up as he is still very young. Barca have appaerently had financial troubles for the last few years, it dosen't stop them shelling out if the right player comes along.

As I said before, I think Wenger made a promise to him that he will leave him go at the end of the season if Barca meet his transfer value.

Lol, ya right, they havnt won a trophy in 5 years. They havnt a hope in hell of winning 4 trophies. Sure Birmingham have a chance of winning the treble.

Fabs is the long-term replacement of Xavi but while Xavi is still playing like Xavi, Barca are in no rush to need Fabs. But when Xavi retires, then Fabs will jump faster to Barca than bees to honey.

Fabregas won't leave in the summer.

I think Barca might be more interested in Jack Wilshere now ;)

It was meant in jest, because his post count at the time was 666, the number of the devil, etc.

    2 completely different sources:confused::confused:

And so what are you basing your speculation that Fabs will go on??

Yeah and both sources are not in the least bit credible. That's my point.

What am I basing my speculation around? Let me see..

    1. Fabregas wants to go to Barca, we learned this last season.
    2. It's his boyhood club, he was brought up there and is good friends with most of the players.
    3. It's clear from the summer that Barcelona want him. I don't see one reason why they would change their mind on this.
    4. As stated above, I believe Fabregas agreed with Wenger ''one more year'', because I think if he was told ''NO'', he would have kicked up a fuss and handed in an official transfer request.
    5. Xavi is not getting any younger, and Barca will want to groom his replacement.

I thought it would be nailed on for this summer myself, but it just doesn't seem to fit for some reason! I don't think Barcelona have the money to buy him, but may come in with another pathetic offer anyway and I think our performances this season will go a long way to convincing him to stay for another season or two.

And I suppose you were talking to Fabregas himself about most of them points??

No, the points I gave are common knowledge.

Hmmmm, double standards me thinks. All of them points were suggested by the media barr 2 and 3, which are also the weakest points for your argument.

Not a good bet. He has a 50/50 (or possibly less) chance of leaving . For that you get 4/5 -no.
And, you will have to put too much on that bet to make it pay and spend now until september trying to remember why you've blown all your capital on it,and, after all that you will feel pretty dumb if it then looses.

Its not a great bet but its not terrible either, Id leave it alone tbh. You would need to be punting big to make it worth your while and its not worth a big risk. Maybe put it in with another bet or two that you fancy?

We'll see. It will be a case of ''I told you so'' in the Summer. There's no doubt in my mind it will happen, I'm throwing 600Euro on it.

Quite a large bet for something which has so many variables.
He might not like the contract offered, Arsenal could reject the offer, he might not want to leave Arsenal, Barca mightn't be able to afford it, he could have a very bad injury etc.

    1. I'm sure any contract Barca offer him will be superior to the one he currently has at Arsenal. Arsenal have a strict wage cap, remember.

    2. Of course they could, but as I said, I don't think Fabregas will stand for it this time. Unhappy player and interested club almost always = transfer. As I said though, I think Wenger convinced him to stay ''one more season'', so I don't expect negotiations to drag out.

    3. It's common knowledge he wants to go back to his boyhood club, why wouldn't he want to go back and be part of possibly the greatest team ever and have a chance of winning the Spanish league and a more realistic shot at the Champions league?

    4. A serious injury is a long shot and would be a risk with any bet of this nature.

Did anybody see the segment with him on Soccer AM yesterday? It was the "Why I love Football" bit at the end.
    His favourite stadium? Nou Camp.
His favourite player growing up? Pep Guardiola.
His favourite childhood memories? Watching Barcelona play.

    Didn't mention Arsenal once!

In all fairness there was never going to be any other answer to those 3 questions!

Its a pity he will only agree to go to one club drastically reduces his price tag. If he was on the open market he would raise some transfer fee.

Guys, do you think I should stick this bet out and wait for the transfer to happen(it really should happen, 1/5 now) or should I cover myself, I Can get 3/1 on Fabregas to stay at Arsenal.

I'd be covering myself, 300-400 to stay

Paddy Power have 3/1 for him to stay...

I've decided to stick it out as it is looking more and more likely he will go.
