Has anyone read Fintan's article in the Irish Times today?

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opinion/2011/0222/1224290515105.html

I have to say that I agree with him 100%. In fact, I believe that this is the reason as to why he wouldn't run for public office. Deep down inside he knows that the Irish are cowardly, backward, ignorant people.

We voted back in FF in 2007 when in our hearts and minds we knew that they were inept and incompetent. In 2011 we will vote in FG which are the same as FF. No new policies, No hope, No future.

My predictions are that this "new" Government will collapse in two years from now. Mortgage debt, high taxes & emmigration will have bitten hard and deep at this stage. Then a desperate Irish electorate will vote in a bunch of nut jobs.

Ok, so FF and FG are the same, and you'd have to be ignorant or backward to vote for them.

When they fail we'll elect nut jobs. I presume that's Sinn Fein or the ULA.

    So that leaves who? Labour?

Everyone who doesn't vote Labour must be ignorant and backward nutjob electing...

Convenient way to sling mud isn't it? G'way with yerself.

Fintan just moans and complains - what has he done otherwise, nothing. What solutions does he even suggest - none. His ideas of not going with the EU/IMF bailout are the exact policy SF are advocating - so is he suggesting we vote SF ?

A bit like many contributors to this forum, except that his spelling and grammar are generally good.

    I like O'Toole. I really do.
To paraphrase his own words, 'at this time when the nation needed people to stand up and be counted', well Fintan and company just didn't show up.

Anyone see him on that BBC programme a couple of days ago 'How to blow a Fortune'? - What a smug, smarmy knob - just wanted to punch him.

While he does sound so smug, deep down you know that he is speaking the truth, unpleasant though it is.

    Including yourself :pac:

In fairness to the contributors to this forum, none come close to the smugness and self-righteousness of Fintan.

No-one actually wants to be bailed out by Europe - but what is the alternative. The way Fintan talks, you'd think we were actually choosing the bailout over some other option. All of the major parties are going with the bailout - SF say they wont. So according to Fintan, if we dont vote for SF then we are all gullible, spineless, cretins
