My engine management light came on last night when i was coming home from foootball, it started flashing and the revs weren't as high. When i got home there was a strong smell of over heating, it sounds like it could be to do something with the air-filter and the flow meter, anyone have any solutions.........................

    What car? Year?
    Coolant level?
Visual cracks etc on hoses in engine?

You should get a mechanic read any fault codes car may have and then fix the issue.

00 Toyota Corolla, If was a easy fix i'd do it myself because i think i need the car again tonight, and i checked for cracked pipes and nothing showed up. I think myself it could be something to do with the air filter or the air flow meter

What makes you think that? Did you google the issue or did someone tell you?
If the light is on it's probably best to have the codes read by a local mechanic. Otherwise it'll be hard to know where to start.

You could try cleaning the MAF of course.
