Not enough tbh. I read the Irish Times the other day and the amount of irrelevant drivel in it was astounding. The internet has specialist sites for the things your interested in. As for the daily mail I read it online to get me angry enough to get up in the morning (its better than coffee).

On topic, the UCD observer gets ~50k from UCD and advertiser revenue too. So with 10,000 printed every fortnight and assuming everyone works for free income minimum of 61c per paper. As for a proper paper, alot more

So how much do you reckon it is?

Say a 30 page (obviously since papers double ... say 15 individual pages)
what would the price tag be :)

    about 20 euros.

(if you're using an inkjet to print it, 30 if it's made by HP)

    Thanks man.

Just makes me think tho, for what I said above its roughly £650 pounds to make a 1000 copies of a 16 page newspaper (I imagine they are including the fact that 1 page of newspaper doubles as 2 pages)

So how on earth do free papers like the Northside people, etc, even manage to make a profit? .. I know advertisiement and all. But papers like that churn out 10,000+ copies an issue.

about €500 a minute or so (750 copies a minute) to print a tabloid , the printing presses dont work on copies, they work on time i dont know if that includes the plating charge or not , and to interrupt print and do a slip its near on €1000

Some newspapers such as the Sunday Independent can be very difficult to print. Have you ever tried writing something on a piece of toilet paper? :p

It's called "economies of scale". As with most products, the more you produce, the cheaper it is to produce them per item.

Looking at the www.quotemeprint.com site the price for 10,000 full colour 52gsm Tabloid newspapers would only be £971.

Its more about the time it takes to produce rather then the number of units, so yes - economies of scale

    The hippy in me says:

It costs 1 tree, lots of water, a few kg's of carbon, and a ton of enviromental damage from the chemicals used to make the paper.

i know the answer but before i tell you, you have to tell me how long a piece of string is?

That's the problem with hippies, they always talk too much during sex, and such irrelevant nonsense too. Is that his idea of talking dirty?
