Sorry mods if this is in the wrong place but it's related to this forum and I don't know my way around boards.ie outside of the politics forum, sad I know.

While I don't want to be (and I'm sure mods/admins definitely don't want to be) seen as discouraging new posters from taking part in discussions and starting new threads, I think a review needs to be done of any new accounts at this time as the 'noise' of unsourced, unreferenced 'x politician/party is great, y is crap' type posters is ruining debate. Checks IMO need to be (and maybe they are being) done on duplicate accounts and new accounts from previous posters banned for trolling. If someone gets a ban and starts posting under a new account can't their IP address be used for a permaban?

Again, sorry for posting here, feel free to move it. I imagine this issue is annoying other posters though

Seconded OP. I've seen a handful of new accounts making nothing but disparaging remarks against one party or politician, across a number of threads. I've also seen a duo of new accounts which seem to drive the conversation in a thread dedicated to one Dublin constituency, and it seems likely (although hard to prove) that the first is the candidate and the second is the candidate posing as a constituent.
I'm not sure what mods can do about this though, particularly considering the importance of freedom of speech around election time. At times I feel tempted to adopt my AH-persona and go to town on the new accounts for such blatant trolling, but I don't want to be excluded from the great debates we're having here in the GE11 forum.
