I wana try rubberise a pistol grip, or handguard, and Im wondering if any of you guys would know how to go about doing this.

Another lad told me a good way would be to use laytex spray, and that that should give it a rubbery coating.

    is there any other ways?

Am only throwing a few ideas out here but
I've never tried any of them myself ;-)

A few coats of Tire Paint that you can get from a car shop
maybe? Never tried it but cant to any harm.

Bi-cycle repair kit glue and some rubber so it melts together on your grip.

There is spray on rubberized paint that you see on grips and stocks
on some M4 stubby's and the likes of clone dragunov scopes but don't know what brand it is
and it tends to rub off fairly easy

Or if you goto maplin or someplace similar that sells electronics or satellite equipment etc you can pick up
some "self Amalgamating Tape". The good quality stuff
(usually thicker) is awesome, Its a non-sticky tape that
stretches like elastic so you stretch it and wrap your grip
and it self binds and is waterproof too.

Also there are two different products and I cant remember the name of them.
They sell one of them in Maplin.

One comes in tubs of beads and melts in hot water and forms
a rubber like putty that you can mold or place over your grip
it sets to a semi-rigid rubber/plastic and can be re-used.
    (white in colour)

The other is black in colour and sets more like the Black
vinyl molds you would use for casting lead soldiers except its used like a putty
and when it sets its rubbery can be used to form a customized grip
    for your own hand!

I've previously bought some of the rubber spray paint, have only used it once but I found it needs a fair few coats to give a decent result and the finish depends alot on the surface you are spraying.

    Asked a buddy this morning.
The Product I was thinking about that would be perfect is
    called "Sugru"

    http://sugru.com/

(It tends to only come in very small quantities though and has a short (6 month) shelf life)

Those white pellets that melt in water are a thermoplastic nylon. I got a sack of them in work a few years ago and made a custom pistol grip shroud for my G36. It's fantastically comfortable if done right, but it can be unforgiving as it cools quickly.
I can't see it being much use for anything else though, and it's certainly not rubber in texture. It also doesn't take paint particularly well, which is why mine has remained a rather garish white
