I havent included the smaller hatchbacks and just focused on the larger ones, and if there are multiple cars from one manuafacturor, I have stuck in the fastest. So, which would you have and why?

The C30 and the Megane win in the looks department imo. But i'd have the focus. 5 cylinder goodness!

it would be the OPC for me.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,663 ✭✭✭stealthyspeeder

RS3 for me, 5 door, prob going to be the fastest and quite understated.

Would go for the STI 2nd and the C30 R 3rd!

I've a soft spot for the Civic, but wouldn't mind a go in one of these:

I'd love any of them TBH. I have a thing for unnecessary windows though. Looking side on the Audi, Beemer Seat, and Subaru have too many windows and pillars for my liking. Ford or Renault for me.

Ps I was was responding to a now deleted post

What spec is the new MPS? If the RS3 has over 400bhp like promised, then that would tempt me. Is the C30 there that mad one that Volvo won't make? If so then I'd pick that over the RS3.
Apart from that, then the Megane is probably the best of the bunch to drive!

Megane for me :) Always love Renaultsport Meganes, even the old model fat arsed ones. Yum!

MPS is same spec as the Mk 1 - 260 bhp 6.1 to 60

Over 400 bhp? in the RS3? is that a typo?

    Nope, regular 2011 C30 R design.

I'd think the STI would have a shout at being be the most fun to drive, also the RWD 130i could be a laugh.

C30 for me. 2nd would be the MPS.

You cant buy one, if you start on that route, you have to include things like the 1 off Volvo C30, the Cosworth Imprezza, Mugen etc

    You cant buy one (RS500)...

    All sold?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,663 ✭✭✭stealthyspeeder

    All sold?

According to Top gear (so prob not lol!), plus they were all made and sold in 2010 I think?

So, on that list there is the Astra OPC & Focus RS which are no longer in production. Also, the Type R and the STI are no longer on sale here.

What's the point on having cars on that list (Labelled 2011) that you can not buy new here in 2011?

A bit of craic? petty tit for tat rules of the road discussion make me dissapointed in this forum these days, so trying to get a bit of dicussion about something interesting. (Haters gonna hate though)

You can nip up north and get the Type R and the STI, I dont think this would be beyond the realms of possiblity for a person who is seriuosly considering getting one of these cars.

Fair enough on the Focus, but you can still buy one new (1st owner) in the UK, and to be honest, if I'd put the ST, most of the comments would be, I'd have the RS over the ST anyday..

This looks new to me. Not in production anymore but it would still have a new 2011 plate so i think this should count,

Opc is a nice looking car but really dont like the seats in it.Very uncomfy!

    RS3 for me

Me too, has it all, performance, style & looks, heritage and you could bring it anywhere, you'd get as much admiring looks outside the local chipper as in a luxury country hotel. All the +s are however reflected in the price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I'd have a Scirocco R even though its not on the list.

Of the cars on the list, Megane wins for me.

Would it be not fairer to have the new BMW 1 M Coupe in there instead of the 130. I know they are meant to be all hatches but that would be more suited power wise (340)

    67k in Ireland
    RS3 is 64k.

I've always been a fast Ford fan. Why change now.

Still no Escort Cossie though :)

Audi RS3 wins absolutely hands down for me. 340 horses! Yes please.

It would have to be the 3 door version though, the 5 just doesn't look right in that chassis.

The Golf R would be my second up I reckon, as I think it would probably be the best/most sensible in terms of a daily runner (plus it would be natural progression for me to move on from the GTI :)).
