My girlfriend is going to be taking up tennis soon and is unsure as to what size tennis racket she should buy. She's 5"2. We were in Elvery's earlier but tbh, the guy in the store knew absolutely nothing. Any help would be much appreciated.

Adult racquets are standard sizes. 27" is the norm, but some can be longer, with a few 27.5" models becoming common, it would be down to personal preference. Your girlfriends height doesn't matter (maybe if she was only 4'2" it would, but 5'2" is fine). That's regarding the length of the racquet which I assume is what you meant given the height reference. Head size is purely down to personal preference. I would probably recommend getting one about 100-110 sq. in. for a starter as that will have a decent size sweet spot to get rallies going. Much smaller would require better timing than most beginners would have, and much bigger give more power but are also harder to control the ball with.

I wouldn't worry about it for a beginner. Anything will do. It'll be a while before she gets to understand the game and what type of racquet would suit her best.

This would be a great place to start:
