Just wondering what launchers people use
Ive used Adw and found it really the most customizable.
But would love to know if there are better Out there?

I used to have ADW EX. Which i though was the coolest one :) Then launcher pro updated with some extra transition animations so went back to that since Launcher Pro Plus seems to be the most smoothest launcher i tested.

Used to use LP, but have become fond of ADW. ADW gives you more for free (like widget resizing).

Launcher pro for me.Something about ADW just seems messy to me :/

If I install launcher pro can I still switch back to sense if I don't like it or will the setup be lost?

You can switch between Launchers using an app called Home Switcher.

Once you install a new Launcher whenever you hit Home it'll ask which Launcher you want to use and will give you the option to set one as default.
To change the default at a later date just run Home Switcher.
Sense keeps your layouts and settings so they're not lost.

For me I've been using LauncherPro for a few months. Paid for it and it's great.

    LauncherPro all the way :)

Looking forward to the next update, he is rewriting the app from scratch.

if i have 2 launchers, and their home screens both have different widgets, if i switch from one to the other, are the widgets still running in the background?

I prefer plain old Sense. Something about it that I just like.

That's the great thing about Android - having the choice.

It's great. :D Though, I always feel like my phone isn't exactly the way I want it and change it around everyday. :p

Well i suppose theres nothing stopping you from having 5 or 6 launchers installed at the same time and playing with them until you find your favourite, then removing the extra ones.

I'm likin launcher pro but might do this with the others mentioned above.

Launcher pro plus is the only app Ive ever paid for. Enough said!

What is the difference between the paid and free versions of launcher pro?
Ive tried all the free ones now and have still come back to ADW, would gladly pay for one if it offered as much or more than ADW. Might get ADW EX.
I just like the fact I can change so much, including the colours of selection, widget size, app drawer colours, downloadable themes, number of columns and rows on homescreen and app drawer.

Launcher Pro Plus has sense-like widgets (like friendstream, messaging, bookmarks, people etc.)

    Plus you're supporting a hard-working developer.

Check out his webpage for more info.

I loved ADW for the customiseability (if such a word exists) but I found it quite slow and laggy, is that just me though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,488 ✭✭✭Goodshape

Launcher Pro. Paid version is well worth the few quid.

Hope the rewrite goes well though... that can often be a mistake tbh. It's already the fastest, smoothest and best featured launcher I've tried, and "if it ain't broke.." :/

Hopefully it's not just a case of a developer having too much time on his hands.

The version that comes with the latest cyanogen7 will make you change your opinion.

Have Launcher Pro Plus on both the Dell Streak and SGS.
Funny that it's just fine on the Dell but at least once per day it's crashes on the SGS.

Not surprising at all, Samsung are known for having awful software. They pay their devs peanuts (based in staines london) :) Install custom rom on galaxy to get the experience you paid for.

It's how your homescreens look. Different launchers will have different effects, options and widgets.
The three main ones in the market are Launcher Pro, ADW, GoLauncher.
Install them to try out, they won't remove your old one or delete its settings if you want to go back.

Another handy app is Home Switcher. It lets you choose which launcher to set as default.
