I'm thinking of picking up a new one of these. Seems a nice mix between style and practicality, at a decent price. Does anyone have any experience with these, good or bad? I hear the MPG isn't really near what Fiat quote. Are they comfortable on long journeys/motorways?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Most cars use a lot more fuel in real life than in the officially quoted figures. You probably picked up on some MPG figures a motoring journo calculated. But he was probably after driving the bejaysis out of the little 500 :D

Sweet little motor anway - a wise and stylish choice of car :)

Yeah, I'd never expect manufacturer stats for MPG etc. But FIAT forums reckon regular daily use (eco-mode off etc) only gets around 35-40 (against a quoted 68!). I'm not really buying it for economy, but it strikes me as odd, considering how they push its green credentials.

I had a diesel one for a day, so I can't comment on the engine.

Nice little car- fun, good handling, quiet enough and fairly well made, but not up to the standard of a mini to be fair.

from what I have read about the twin air and from what I've experienced myself I'd buy one

proper Fiats are supposed to be driven till you can hear the nuts screaming out from under the bonnet - you'll love doing that in the twin air.

    btw a real fiat 500 is a twin !

Not much help but - I have a FIAT 500 1.2... it easily does 45mpg, more like 55mpg on a run. Great, fun car - more practical that it looks, we have 2 kids and can get the weekly shopping in it.

Bluetooth, USB and AirCon - what else do you really need?

I take it it's the lounge trim you have si_guru? How are the seats? OK for long journeys? Enough room in the back for adults?

Saw one on the streets in Frankfurt and fell in love. I actually looked into it. Not a single dealer on the whole island here!

The front seats are great - an yes it is a lounge. Mine has a white.black check pattern seat. shows marks - but cleans easily. Mine was ex-demo, if I had a choice I would go for leather as we have two 4 years olds!

Back seats... really kids only if the front passengers are over 5'6".. the boot will take 4 tesco bags for life no bother and it has a spare!

the glove box is under the front passenger seat cushion...wokrs okay once you get used to it.

pulls the ladies better than a puppy or a pram....shame I am married ;)

Mine has 15" wheels.. the ride is firm... the 16"s/17"s must take ye fillings out. I am looking for some 14" steels in anticipation of the roads after the next round of public spending cuts.

Yeah, I think I'll spring for the leather. Looks very nice with them. Thanks for the tip on the alloys. I figured the 16" might be too much, so I'll stick with the 15".
