Great to see them! Just don't feed them 100grain soft points and they should stick around if the cover is good and there is plenty of food. I'd keep the lamping to a minimum too, let them settle.

I've heard that vitamin licks similar to ones used for horses keep them in the area. Try putting couple of them in the woods you mentioned

Best thing to do is don't tell anyone where they are and keep an eye on them.
Also a salt or mineral lick should keep them around.
Deer will tend to move to different places at different times of year ie rutting sika stags can travel 50k in a night in search of hinds.
Also in summer time hinds will look for rich grass as they will be giving birth and nursing young

My first rifle arrived at the end ot the season as well and I spent 2 weeks out stalking without getting anything. Man was I frustrated. But I did spend the off season target practicing and foxing with it and it stood to me when the faithful moment came. I was ready.
All this talk of deer is getting my blood up. I think I will go out for one in the morning. ;)

The main thing is that they don't get too much disturbance. I've found that game shooting and deer stalking don't go well together on a small piece of ground. Dogs will leave a lot of scent to deter deer. 30 acres of cover is actually quite small for deer. I've seen deer take flight across a couple of fields to another wood, leaving over 30 acres of woodland to do so. The chaces of them hanging around would be greatly increased if there is more good cover nearby.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother with feed if you are in a good grazing area. Undisturbed cover is what attracts deer most.
