Enda getting a dig in there. :D

Enda getting a dig in there. :D

The other two should be hammering Michael Martin in every debate given the government that he was part of... There were less guilty people at the Nuremberg trials ffs...

At least Enda is hitting the big points tonight... Lenihans "cheapest bailout", Cowan's "no IMF bailout"... People need to be SERIOUSLY reminded about this before the election.. He's started well..

Enda is performing well I think.

Yeah, he's been excellent.. He's belittling Míchael Martin, not even acknowledging him on occasion.. I think Labour have lost a lot of credibility by aligning themselves further with Jack O'Connor.. Gilmore doesnt seem to be attacking Kenny as he was in the first debate..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 98 ✭✭country home

sick of bloody martin, hes so frigg'in arrogant.

he has some nerve of showing face in front of the irish people,
let someone else from the grass routes of FF come up as leader, but for someone who was on stage over 14 years,, , ,man make me boil in side. . .

just watching him talk, never mind try and debate anything to do with politics. .. . cheek thats all i can say. . .

    chemical ali. . . .

i thought he did well on the TV 3 debate, really looked at martin as if " what ever", "child". . "crap talker". .

I think the ignore your opponents really works. .

Martin is being a terrible ass; I thought he was bad on Vincent Browne, but here he's just as bad; cutting across everyone, generally acting tetchy, impatient, argumentative & arrogant.
Yes, Enda's doing well because mostly he's staying out of the argy-bargy.

Martin is the self made saint out of the FF hell house.

Enda is only doing well because he is making the others look bad by interupting and being rude to each other!
He is making his points when the others arent talking!
I cant stand martin, not because he is FF, just because he is such a smug arrogant git!!

Somehow nothing is their fault, but yet they still know everything!

    Martin : did you enda?

    Kenny : shhhhsssss, good lad!.

    classic :D

I'm actually wondering more about their hand gestures and posing, than what they are saying, after seeing those analysts talking about it in some of the other shows on telly last week.
Enda's drawn the middle seat again, which makes him look more like the boss. I noticed that when he was talking he made a grasping gesture over his heart. The heart is the powerhouse of the body. Read into that what thou wilst. LOL.

Mind you, Miriam's a terrible host, she should be controlling the loud bickering more than she is. Martin's clearly got form on this defensive bullish attitude, so she should be at least trying to pull him onside.

i cant stand her, but i think on a another note, she shouldnt be involved, her brother runs for FF.

Well I thought the same when I heard Fionnán Sheehan on today commenting on the election.. his missus is running... And Tubridy on the radio (and I'd normally be a fan of Tubridy. :D ) was talking about his cousin running for election, and was also on the radio covering some politicial issues when his brother was running..

"Enda I want to let Michael back in, is that okay"... ffs Even Miriam thinks he's won already..

Jesus, someone take Martin aside and tell him you don't stab your finger & point at your co-debaters, even teenage public speakers know that's just overly aggressive. What an amateur.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,718 ✭✭✭✭JonathanAnon

Bad night for Míchael Martin.. Enda wont acknowledge him, and he's getting visibly frustrated..

It's a very odd seating setup... Eamonn Gilmore looks like he is facing the other two, who look like they are on the same side of the board room table, and they are facing Miriam ... It's kind of like Eamonn Gilmore is selling a mortgage to the happy couple (Enda and Michael), and Miriam is overseeing it so that he doesnt make a mistake. .

Enda Kenny is making one point very clear - With FG in Government the doles queues are going to grow longer .

He loves talking about cuts .

They're going to get longer whoever we vote for, the damage has been done & there's no magic cure for this recession. All we can do is make sure those responsible are voted out with gusto *shrug*

2007. on rte news 6one to be precise. . "who will you vote for ", will you vote for Bertie", awh god ya, sher hes a lovely man"

thats why i know talking the talk is one thing and one thing only. . coolio. .

if u ask me, im sick of media telling everyone to vote, if you have no interest, no knowledge, and not a clue whats going on with each party, , , ,sher its the same thing as a husband or wife walking in to a bank and signing up to anything, , , , it will burry the other spouse!. . .

Good man Enda, ****ing knocking em out.

it always sits on my mind. . .

I remeber i couldnt open a bolt on the engine of the tractor, it was all rusted and damaged, so after hours of trying i had enough and chucked it in. i brought it to the local tractor mechanics, they had a go and after 5 mins they broke it.

    i said, you broke it.

they replied, but didnt you fail,

needless to say they tourched it out and all was well within 30 mins.

    i laughed. . .
i think of enda the same way. . . we are looking at eamon and enda, , , and all i can keep thinking is, ill take either. . cause martin failed. ..

Disgraceful "chairing" by the presenter. She's letting Martin shout and bully his way, and the others bicker. She should be ashamed to call herself an impartial journalist & presenter.

I don't like this sniggering Enda all the same.

I think he'll lose a few votes there tonight. I'll nearly vote Fianna Fail.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,731 ✭✭✭Bullseye1

MMartin comes across best IMO but he he lacks serious credibility because of his past record as a Minister in the most damaging government in our history. Enda really is a poor debater but is being a good debater essential to be a good leader? All we can do is hope there are enough good people within FG to cover for this guy.

I'm just glad the waffling is nearly done and dusted and we can soon hopefully have Martin's mob booted out at long last.

Came across best if the competition was "who was the most bullying, arrogant, and defensive candidate" ... seriously. Is this FF's policy for the election - to go out unapologetic and all guns blazing while aggressively belittling all those who question them? Oh wait, no change from the previous 14 years then I guess.

A little bloody humility on their part wouldn't hurt, instead we get Bertie's regret of no Bertiebowls, and Martin acting disgusted because we dare question his speeches & policies. Incredible stuff that FF think this is appropriate behaviour after all that has happened.

I can see what you're saying about Martin. The thing is Enda was sitting there sniggering, wanting to rise Martin. He seems like a bit of a pr!ck.

Martin wanted answers but Enda just sat back and let him roar.

I wouldn't just be talking about tonight though. Martin - and FF's - entire policy has been a case of bollick, barrack and bluster.

Yes, Enda was a robot, coming out with auto-responses, but for Martin to act so ... shamelessly aggressive, after everything he's had his hand in, is just a disgrace. Like I said, humility should be the watchword.

First off - The sound quality last night was an absolute disgrace. Miriam's lapel mic was distorting and there were static discharges from her dress which weren't helping. You could hear the production talkback being picked up by the mics and there was a lot of noticeable background noise. Technically speaking, not RTÉ's finest hour.

Miriam should have just gone home. She was useless. No authority there whatsoever. Richard Crowley or Seán Ó Rourke should have handled that duty. They would have made a far better attempt at it in my opinion.
