Not collecting JSA on day specified?!

    I've googled and searched boards.ie but I haven't found a straight answer.

My letter says to collect on Wed which isn't a problem until April.
I have a family wedding and won't be able to pick it up 'til the Monday after.

Does anyone know for sure if you don't pick it up on the day specified, does it stay in Post office or get sent back?

Or do you/should you tell welfare office in advance?

Some people say they hold it for four days?

If they do is that consecutive or business?

I hate going into the welfare office unless I really have to!

A payment stays in the Post Office for 3 days - so if it is due to be there Thursday, Saturday will be the last day for collection.
You need to go in and tell Social Welfare before hand, and they will delay your payment. It will be a holiday period.

It will be there for 3 days at the very least. Mine does be there from Wednesday to Monday (not a tuesday, found that out the hard way when I was ill). You don't need to talk to anyone, just go in on the next day, collect it and you're grand.
