I had a friend do it for me because I was on holiday. Silly thing failed though.

Definitely no, your grand. Due to work I never took a car of mine, it's always been the father and we've never had any trouble.

No I bought a car with an expired nct and part of the deal was the dealer collected it off me the following week, brought it to the centre and got it tested.

I took a car that my brother had bought...

    No problems..

Although the NCT people had to jump start it to get me home..

Yes it failed the NCT :o

It's the car that's tested - nothing to do with ownership. Plenty of garages bring cars to NCT centres on the owner's behalf.

Whats confusing? their website says bring ID?
If you're driving you are supposed to have your licence on you anyway?

I brought one recently (last few weeks) for someone else and I was told in advance that it is a requirement to bring ID, when I got there they asked for it, so save yourself the hassle and just bring some or they might be inclined to turn you away, you might have to pay for a retest then??
Even if I wasn't told, you say its on their website so the onus will be on a person bringing in a car that they dont own, to have ID

I did the wife's NCT 2 weeks ago. I'm not the registered owner of her car. I was asked for ID (Driver's licence)

    No biggie, no issues...

Was on to the nct today as it happens, and they told me anybody can bring the car once they have their own ID with them.

i guess i just got confused as to why they'd want id if it's just a test for the car. if they just want to know who brought the car in .. then fair enough. i've not problem bringing id, was just confused about why they'd need it.
