I bought one of the old ipod Nano's, its working perfectly, currently loaded with someones music.

I am trying to set up Itunes and wipe it clean and start downloading music of my own.

When I connect the ipod to my new laptop and I go to "my computer" I can see it telling me how much usage the previous owner of the ipod has used up. However I cannot access what songs are on the ipod through the computer.

I also then downloaded the latest version of itunes and a shortcut appeared on my desktop but when I connect the ipod to the laptop again the itunes library doesnt pop up. Also when I double click on the itunes icon on my desktop nothing happens at all.

Can anyone advise me where I am going wrong?

The ipod is fine, when its not connected I can listen to the music of the previous owner no problem so its obviously a software issue

can anyone advise me where I am going wrong?

The only way to view the list of songs on your computer is through iTunes. Seems like something went wrong when you installed iTunes so I would remove it and reinstall.

Once you do get it setup and working, open iTunes and then connect the iPod. It should give you an option to erase and sync. This will wipe it clean allow you to add your own music.
