    Hi,

    Does anyone know how to alter the MTU setting of my Netopia 2247-62 router via Telnet? Can't seem to find it...

    Thanks

    after you telnet in go through the following menus

    config -> ppp

    it looks like it is labeled as mru on the modem but it is set at 1492 which is the default mtu size

    unless you need to change it for a specific reason you might be better off checking the firewall settings on the modems.
    somethings report the mtu size as being to low if the modems firewall is blocking it, the most common being xbox live

    Look up pop3 telnet or smtp telnet, two separate lots of commands.

    usually turning off anti virus will fix these problems Outlook works just fine.

    Using PPPoE, MTU can be set to 1492 as maximum but setting a size of 1454 is most efficient as different sizes of MTU can lead to padding bits. The difference is only 1% or something however.
