New Saddle for my Trek 1.2 (Review)

I splashed out on a Selle San Marco SKN Saddle, €65.33 delivered from CRC.
The 1.2 came with a Bontrager R1 which I had my doubts about from day 1.
After about 40 minutes on the R1 my rear end was numb. I had to do weird yoga type exercises while still cycling to get the feeling back
So I put the SKN on yesterday and did a quick 15k spin to test it out. First thoughts were that I had wasted my money as the saddle felt quite firm and if anything slightly less comfortable than the R1.
I did a 38k ride today and I am delighted with the result: no discomfort at all.
While the saddle never gave that nice comfortable feeling that I was expecting, neither did it become any less comfortable as the ride went on.
It is such a refreshing thing to get off the bike without a sore rear end.

For you weight weenies fanatics: R1 weight is 283g while the SKN weighs 200g.

Saddles can be a tough one to get right... As you've found out, a saddle isn't ever gonna make you feel great the first time you sit on it, but if it's tolerable for a few hours, that's a win! Having said that, my Spesh Alias is quite a comforable saddle from the get go, so maybe experimenting with different saddles will help. It's definitely a seriously personal thing, though. If you find the right saddle for you, get 2 of them!

    HTFU :)
Sure the 1.2 default saddle isn't comfortable but stick with it and you'll be fine.

First time I sat on mine it killed me after 10miles, longest I've done on it now is 100km and it was fine :D
