Im heading for Seville Saturday week for a week and was wondering has anyone been there and got in training while there? Im looking for any info on bike hire, bike routes, run routes, swimming pools, hotels and generally anything that would be useful!

I would do my run routes down at Isla Cartuja by the river. There is an international training centre there which will be full of Olympic athletes at the moment (mostly from rowing or kayaking though). But there are always piles of runners and athletes training there and there are plenty of good routes in around the Stadium park and river.

Hotel Barcelo is a good hotel right opposite the training centre. The centre itself has full accomodation but at this time of the year you have no chance of booking a room.

Swimming pool is on Isla Cartuja too (about 500m from the training centre). I think its 25m but i'm not sure as i've never swam there.

Never cycled in Seville but the year the Irish team trained there, they complained about a lot of dangerous driving etc.

If you're looking for any info when you get there, head along to Flaherty's bar near the cathedral (La Giralda). Theres usually a bunch of helpful irish working there that will point you in the direction of anything you need. Hope that helps and enjoy one of the best cities in Europe!

+1 on the training out around Isla Cartuja. There are very long wide stretches of road and footpaths and traffic is much quiter out here than in the city centre. Also, there's no paved streets out here so that's another plus.

I was out there running the Seville marathon last week. There are very few hills in the city so if you're looking for them specifically, you might have to go out a bit, think I spotted a few mountainy looking hills a bit out of the city.

The city itself is beautiful and the climate very mild at the moment. Enjoy.
