pardon me for the stupid joke :D
but I've found myself too much interested in Panerai lately.
I went to BT on Sat and I saw a wonderful PAM005 in the window. I've tried it on the wrist and it was love at first sight!
RRP is 3150 but the guy offered me a discount!!! not too much but still a good bargain considering in which shop i was.
At the same time I've found a PAM111 for the exact same money...decision has to be made now!

should I go for the PAM005? it has the logo, it has the original look of the hystoric Panerais (closed case and printed dial), it is produced in batches of about 1200/1500 per year, it's brand new.

or shoud I go for the PAM111? it has the sandwich dial, it has the open case with the wonderful movement on show, they are quite difficult to find as second hand...

    please help! ;)

It would be PAM111 for me anyway. Prefer the sandwich dials :)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I've really grown to like Panerai. Initially wasn't that pushed but after seeing so many photos of them on forums everywhere I really want one now. Must give a call in to BT someday, I didn't know the prices were that reasonable for Panerai there.

I'd go for the PAM111 myself, prefer the look of that one and I love watches with an open case back on them. Either one would be nice though, lucky fecker.

PAM111 for me too. I prefer the sandwich dial. I find it makes the numbers and "battons" sharper, if you get my drift.

I've already decided my next purchase will be a Panerai. I'd go with the PAM111 too.

Quick question - I know what a sandwich dial is, but what is a sausage dial?

I have two PAM homages from Getat, one of which I wear a lot and I really like, it's titanium with a black sandwich dial. I'd consider buying one of the early hand-wind PAMs at some point - OP, what kind of discount did you manage to get, if you can tell me?

On another note, I saw a link to a photo of Morrissey on another forum, he was in Dublin last night, and it has some relevance here...

This is a sausage dial (there is a "hump where the lume is most heavy")

This is a sandwich dial (where you can clearly see the 2 layers, the one with the lume below the black one)

I have got almost the 10% of the RRP on a PAM005 in BT, but for the same price I've found a PAM111 from 2010 on a forum :D so i'm going for this one.

because of how the lume is applied on the non sandwich dial pams, it still has a great depth and for me looks very good :)

    i would say that however because i have a base 000 :D
