Jogger with ankle problem

Hi, I posted this on the fitness forum but got no reply.
I jog 5 km+ a few times a wk and skip rope occasionally. However I can’t recently because the backs of my ankles, just above my heels, are stiff, tight, heavy or some such with the last few weeks. If I jog up an incline it catches me in the same place and skipping is impossible because of jolts of pain. There seems to be v little improvement over the last month. Any thoughts on what is causing this and how to rectify this?

We can't give medical advice on boards.

There was a recent discussion of shin splints you might want to look at. I know that's not what you're asking about, but some of the information in there is generally useful.

Mod: As RayCun said medical advice is in breach of the forum charter however hopefully the alternative either the Plantar (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056184359) or the shin Splints threads can provide you with common injury treatments which might provide you with some guidance otherwise I suggest you seek professional advice.
