    I see voters on the offshore islands are again voting earlier than the rest of the country in this election.Is it time that this practice came to an end as I think it is unfair?

    exactly what I was going to ask?

    afaik they vote earlier so to help ensure their votes are back in count centres on the mainland in time to be counted

    OK maybe unfair isnt the right word but it seems strange that for example people on the Aran Islands are voting several days before people on Sherkin and Dursey Islands.If weather conditions are the reason then it should be the same rule for everywhere IMO.

    it hardly makes a difference does it?

    If I was able to vote 4 months ago and the ballot sat in a box and was counted along with yours from Friday, theres no advantage or disadvantage and it doesnt matter to the result.
