If No One Had Told You About Jesus.... Would You Still Believe In Him?

This is a question that I've had in my head for a long time. I mean, I'm not a believer in Christianity though I was brought up a Catholic. However if the Bible and passed down stories had never existed would people still believe in him?

For instance if you woke up tomorrow and had a complete memory loss and all traces of him ever existing we're erased would you know that he existed and more importantly would you believe in him as a deity? And if not, does that question his very ability to be a God-like being? That he would exist no matter what?

Just want to point out the above is not meant to be antagonistic and I plan on asking the same thing in the Islamic forum also.

How could anyone believe in anything that they had never heard of?

I'm going to lock this thread, but will consider reopening it if the OP wishes to PM me and give me some reason why it is not as bone-headedly a stupid a question as it appears.
