Just curious with all the reports of so many businesses closing up shop, what happens to all the stock, electronics and machinery they had? Is it send to auction or what happens?

As far as I know most of it is sent back to the manufacturer, the remainder that cant go back is sold off by the liquidator in order to get as much money as possible back to the creditors

closed a shop down in 08. kept good stock and gave it to family and friends the other stuff I just binned but still have the fittings and fixtures out in my garden shed becuase I couldnt shift them and didnt want to put them in skip. We didnt buy on credit so all the stock we had was paid for and couldnt go back

Thanks guys, im in the process of looking to buy bulk orders of dvds. I was wondering if say a video rental store was to close wold they sell of there stock to gather cash or what would happen? Also is there any big liquidators here in Ireland that i could track to see if such a thing pops up?

The liquidators are usually accountants and the best way of finding out is by searching the internet or checking the local newspaper that reports on the closure of that particular business. Often local newspapers say who was appointed for the receivership, you could then contact them about the possibility of buying the stock

Is there any companies or bodies that list companies as they go into receivership? I will look and see if the local newspapers have anything like this. I live in Tallaght and after checking the online versions of a few local papers i found no listings so far. Only listings i came across was for planning permission

And lets say then you see a store, lets say a toy store and you think to yourself hmmm maybe they would sell me some of there stock. How do you get in contact with them? Do you pay this site for that info or is it a matter of just digging up the details yourself?

I worked in Chartbusters HQ before it all went down.

Most of our stock is still either trapped in stores or stored in warehouses.
    LOTS of it.

Liquidator is BKRM in North Strand, Give them a call. I'd assume they should be more than happy to help.
