A quick question about writing a CV?

I am just updating a CV and was wondering is it necessary to have Leaving Cert results on it if you've had relevant work experience plus other diplomas in the field you are searching for? if that makes sense

Because I never get asked for my Leaving Cert in interviews, do some people ever have to present their actual Leaving Cert results to an employer?

Probably not that relevant, depends on how many years ago you completed it. I know your cv should only be two pages max, so I never really have the space to include it, unless you havent been working that long or its your first job your applying for :)

Thanks, I completed it in 2005 and have had jobs and third level education since then so maybe there's no point in including it then:)

I normally just put it in one line like so.

    School, Leaving Certificate 4 Bs, 2 Cs, 1 D

I wouldn't bother including it unless it's very impressive. If the employer really wants to know about it they can ask you in the interview.

Out of college 2 years, I'd leave it in as a one liner.. though depends if you like your result or not.
    Leaving Cert- 2005 X School- 500/600 points

    It shows a past trend.

Depends what stage of life and stage in your career you are in. Generally if you are just after doing the leaving ya leave in the results and while you are in college I'd leave in the results. Maybe once you finished college, just include a one liner with number of honours/pass subjects, year you did the leaving and the points achieved, as you will already have achieved your college results and awarded qualification. Once you get into the working world, leaving cert results will become irrelevant depending on the jobs you apply for which may require you to mention your leaving cert results. Best to just add in the school, Leaving Certificate and the year you did your leaving on your CV.

I'm with Snuggles and Mr. Loverman on this. Your higher qualifications will trump your LC for sure, so there's not need to include irrelevant info such as the LC results. Just list the name of the school & dates you went there. You'll find as time goes on, your real world experience is almost all that will count. The 3rd level qualifications are a technicality/necessary evil. LC, merely a standard process!
