    Hi All,
ok so my issue is as follows:-
Today the washing machine started to fill as normal and then stop way to early.
So i checked the cold water flow and seems ok, cleaned the filter at the inlet of debris.
cleaned the filters and impeller blade all moving well.

there seemed to be a pipe from the drum to a small black 2 inch unit at the reay of the machine, like a cut off valve of sorts, i disconnected the pipe and the unit filled in the normal way, once connected it stopped early again.

could this be a faulty part and if so anyone have a clue on fixing this?

    Cheers
    Darren

Bang on there Darren that unit is a pressure switch that uses air pressure to cut off the solenoid on the intake flow.
When a certain level thus pressure is reached the switch activates and cuts power to the intake solenoid. These don't usually fail but sometimes caked washing powder can block the tube that you disconnected causing the unit to either overfill or in your case under fill.

Take off the pipe again and make sure its clear usually just flexing the pipe breaks up the cake however you may need to push wire down to clear it but just be careful not to use anything sharp that might puncture it.

Also check that chamber that you are disconnecting the hose from. Can build up with powder and other gunk especially if its a washer dryer

if the machine stopped mid cycle ,it will communicate a fault code to you ,
what model is it and how old ?

    Hi
Thanks for the replies on this, The model is a ZWF1270S
It starts to fill for the wash cycle and then after a couple of mins it stops filling and just sits there. After maybe two/three mins the "Play/Pause" button flashes red and just keeps flashing. I have not noted a sequence to this.

It seems that the hose to the pressure switch runs down the side of the drum, I need to figure how to see the chamber that is connects to in order to clean this as suggested.

Was just looking on here and found a new switch would be quite cheap and looks easy enough to replace so if all else fails i can order and replace.

Forgot to add the unit is maybe 18 months old if that

Tip the machine back and you'll see the black hose connecting to the pressure pot, clean it there. Replacing the pressure switch wont help you if the pressure switch system is blocked.

Cool, Will give this a clean tonight and if this fails will get a new switch. If the pipes are clean and no blocks found will leaving the machine unplugged for a couple of hours reset the pressure switch?

that flashing light is the fault sequence -I will pm you how how to read it and give me the code from the diagnostics

just for peoples information , if the pressure switch is cutting out it's doing it's job - this sounds to me like the fill solenoid is gone
two stage pressure switch , draws water in on one solenoid and fills to a certain level , pressure switch changes over and second solenoid now draws in

From op's description this is what is happening , fault code should confirm

that's why when he disconnects the pressure hose the switch drops and draws in on the first solenoid

    OK PM sent to Knighted_1

Flashing red lights just keeps going, i gave up counting at 150+
Water draws in for a little while, about 1inch deep in drum then stops and nothing happens, then red flashing lights kick in.

So solenoid or pressure switch - anyone ideas on a rough price to fix?
