Can someone tell me which of these cars is better, taking into account reliability, services costs, driving performance and MOST importantly MPG!

    Skoda Octavia 1.6 ^

    Toyota Corrolla 1.6^ D4D??

    Both diesel.

You'll need to take performance out of the equation. I could hold both of them back with my little finger. Impossible to answer anyway IMO.

Best answer: They'll be about the same. You're be a moron to buy either brand new if all you care is cost of running. Might as well flush your finance straight down the crapper.

They're both fine. Toyota might have a slight edge in reliability but would be more expensive. You pays your money...

Thats a little bit better but how about Mpg. Im seeing 60mpg for the d4d on the offical toyota sites down to 55mpg on the user sites. I can't keep paying €80 a week for a 1.8l petrol with 35mpg on average.
