As some of you may be aware Argos latest catalogue has been updated with saorview compatability information on the TV sections. There online website does now also appear to have this information. However there seems to be some inaccuracies in their listings. Today my brother bought a BUSH LED/LCD 22" TV from them for 190 euro. It clearly states "This TV is digital compatible in the Republic of Ireland" however the TV appears to be MPEG2 only ..... sound and no picture on DTV.

I've advised my brother to return immediately and get the similar spec Walker 22" WP22F11LCD which is Saorview certified TV from Powercity for only 10 Euro extra (I would have advised him to get the Walker to begin with if he had of asked). I'm not sure if my brother was given the wrong item or if it's an honest error by Argos. My first thought was it's a BUSH TV so it's gotta be MPEG2 and an error has been made by argos ... but if this is the case it may not be the only one.

I will update when I hear back from the brother.

Looking at that Argos spec it would appear to only have a UHF tuner for analogue as well.

Just an update on this - My brother returned the TV to Argos there was no problems getting a refund. He went to powercity and got the Walker 22" and is very happy with it.

I had the same problem.. for some reason argos is still selling those bush tv's as digital compatible for ireland. Fortunately they also refunded me with no problems.

I was going to order that walker from powercity but decided to see what was available locally (coz I'm too impatient!) and as luck would have it they have it in soundstore but it costs 230 there. However I showed them the price at powercity, the guy made a quick call somewhere and then sold it to me for the same price. :D

My Dad bought that Bush tv earlier after seeing on the website that it is compatible with digital television in Ireland.
I'll be bringing it back for a refund tomorrow....

Argos don't have a single TV for less than €300 that is compliant with Irish Digital TV standards. It is all cheap UK standard cack.
